Sesame Lime-Seared Tofu

Ingredients

  • 5 to 6 oz of firm or extra-firm tofu
  • 1 tablespoon of toasted sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon of freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1 scallion, white and light-green parts only, chopped

Method

  • Press tofu: put it between several layers of paper towels and place heavy pan on top, and let stand for ten minutes
  • Cut tofu into cubes
  • Heat sesame oil in skillet over medium-high heat until hot.
  • Add tofu cubes and cook for 2 to 3 minutes, until light golden brown
  • Flip, and cook for 2 to 3 minutes more
  • Drizzle in lime juice and soy sauce, and scatter the scallion into the pan Toss tofu a few times to coat it with the flavours
  • Cook for about 2 minutes, just until liquid thicken around tofu
  • Serve sprinkled with the chopped scallion
