Ingredients

  • 2 cups dried chick peas

Method

Heat oven to 180 degrees. Place chick peas in pot and cover with water to about 3-4 inches above the chick peas. Soak overnight; or bring to a boil and simmer about 10 minutes, then turn off heat and soak for about an hour. Discard water and replace with fresh water, to same level. Bring to boil, reduce heat to moderate, and cook uncovered for about 1 1/2 hours. Cover and cook over low heat another 1/2 hour or until tender, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking. Drain well. Place chick peas in single layer on non-stick tray. Bake in 180 degree oven for about 45 minutes or until they are quite dry and browned. Shake them from time to time during cooking.
